What "Continue Reading" Really Means: A Plain-Words Guide to Picking Up Where
Continue Reading sounds simple, yet a few small rules sit behind it. Here is what the term covers in the app, what it remembers, and where its limits are, in plain words.
The term, in one plain sentence
When we say Continue Reading, we mean one thing: the app remembers the last chapter you opened in a story and takes you back to it, so you do not have to hunt through a list or scroll to find your place. That is all. It is not a recommendation engine, and it does not guess what you might like next.
I am Rohan, and I look after the product side of Dreamy Love Stories. I keep hearing the same small worry from readers: what if I close the app in the middle of a tense scene? The honest answer is that the app keeps your position, and the next time you open a story you started, it offers to carry on from there. Nothing more complicated is going on behind that button.
What the app remembers, and what it does not
The app keeps track of the story you were reading and the chapter you reached. If you stop halfway through Her Second Chance on a Tuesday afternoon and return on Friday, the story opens at the chapter you left, not at the beginning. This works whether you read for two minutes or twenty.
What it does not do is read your mind. If you open a chapter by accident and close it at once, that chapter becomes your place, and you may need to go back a step yourself. Chapters are short, so a wrong turn costs very little. It also does not carry your place to a story you have never opened, because there is no place to remember until you start reading.
- Remembers: the story and the chapter you reached last
- Does not remember: scenes you only skimmed past
- Does not guess: stories you have not opened yet
Why short chapters make this work
Each story is told in brief chapters, written so that one episode can be finished in a sitting. That design is the reason Continue Reading feels natural. When a chapter takes only a few minutes, the natural stopping points are the chapter ends, and the app saves your place at those points without any effort from you.
Imran, our story editor, shapes episodes so that each one closes on a small turn, a look, a message, a locked door. Readers tell us these ends are easy to leave and easy to return to. If you are the kind of reader who dips into a story in the gaps of a busy day, this rhythm is what makes picking up again painless rather than confusing.
Using it on a commute or a quiet evening
Many of our readers are on a train, a bus or a metro ride across a city like Indore or Pune, with a few minutes to spare and patchy attention. Continue Reading is built for exactly that. Open the app, tap the story you were in, and you are back in the scene before your stop arrives.
Evenings work the same way, only slower. You might read one chapter after dinner, put the phone down, and return the next night to find the next chapter waiting at the right place. There is no need to note down where you stopped, and no need to remember a chapter number. The app holds the thread so that you can simply enjoy the story.
Free chapters and your place in a story
Every story opens with a free first chapter, and your place is kept there too. If you read Chapter 1 of The Billionaire's Secret on the free tier and then step away to think about whether to subscribe, the story will still be waiting at the same point when you come back.
What the free tier does not unlock is the chapters after the first one. Continue Reading can take you back to where you stopped, but it cannot open chapters that belong to the paid subscription. We prefer to say this plainly: your place is saved either way, and what changes with a plan is how far into the story you can go from that place.
Small limits worth knowing
A few honest limits are worth stating. Continue Reading follows the stories you have opened, so it is only as complete as your own reading. If you read several stories in parallel, each keeps its own place, but the app shows you the one you touched most recently first.
It is also meant for the phone you read on, which is why we design it around Android. We make no promise about reading on other devices, and we would rather you hear that from us than discover it later. Within those limits, the feature does one job and does it quietly, which is what most readers want from it.
- Each story keeps its own saved place
- The most recently opened story appears first
- Designed around reading on Android phones
Continue Reading is a small promise kept quietly: leave a story at any moment and the app holds your place until you return. It will not choose what you read or open chapters beyond your plan, but it spares you the search. If your evenings are short and your stories are long, that is a useful thing for a button to do.
